HOK: Tell us about yourself!
Brit: I am currently living in Vancouver studying Naturopathic Medicine, so my day job is full time student! I live with my boyfriend, Morgan and pup Zeus. I like to go hiking and exploring, make recipes for my blog, go to local restaurants and coffee shops, hanging out with friends + family.
HOK: How long have you lived/played in the Okanagan?
Brit: I have lived in Kelowna since I was 3 years old! I am currently finishing my education in Vancouver but CANNOT WAIT to come back to the Okanagan!
HOK: What do you love most about the Okanagan?
Brit: I love the weather! I love that Kelowna sees all the seasons. I also like how it is more of a slow-paced town with lots of friendly people.
HOK: How you would describe the Okanagan culture to someone who has never experienced it before?
Brit: The Okanagan is laid back, it is what you picture when you think of a summer town but all the time. The weather is nice, the people are friendly, there is lots of outdoor activities to do, the options are endless!
HOK: If you grew up here, what was your best memory of growing up in the Okanagan?
Brit: My favourite memory as a kid of the Okanagan was getting to spend Christmas at Big White, it’s truly magical!
HOK: What are your favourite spring/summer/fall or winter activities?
Brit: Winter — Big white, snowboarding, snowshoeing, skating at Stuart park. Spring/summer/fall — hiking (mission creek greenway, Knox mountain), road biking, beach, boating, golfing
HOK: If you had a whole weekend off, what would you do with your time?
Brit: I would go to TWP fitness every day to do a group fitness class. Depending on the season, I would go snowboarding at Big White or hiking at Knox mountain. I love to go wine tasting too. Then I would lay on the beach and swim in Kalamalka.
HOK: Describe your perfect Okanagan date night with your significant other.
HOK: Tell me about your Okanagan community. Who are they? How did you meet your community and what do you love about them?
Brit: My friends in Kelowna I have met through college and university, the dance studio I went to in high school and the gym I go to (TWP fitness). They are a very supportive and loving group of people
HOK: What do you think makes the Okanagan unique and special?
Brit: The Okanagan is special to me because it is where I grew up and where I like to spend my time. I have so many memories here and there is so many wonderful things to do like wine tasting, boating, snowboarding, hiking, biking… it’s so diverse!
HOK: Name a woman in the Okanagan that inspires you.
Brit: Dr. Lauren Tomkins. She is my ND and she is the co-owner of West Kelowna IHC. She inspires me to have a successful practice in the near future and to be part of the Okanagan community as it will open up so many doors to opportunity.
